Children’s Liturgy

The Children’s Liturgy Group is a special ministry in our parish that helps children connect with God and His Word in a way that they can understand. During Mass, children are invited to take part in their own age-appropriate liturgy of the Word, allowing them to learn, pray, and grow in faith.

What Happens in Children’s Liturgy

• Children are invited to leave the main assembly at the beginning of the Mass.
• Leaders guide the children through scripture readings in a way that is engaging and meaningful for their age.
• Children discuss the readings, participate in prayers, and sometimes engage in creative activities that help them understand God’s message.
• After the Liturgy of the Word, children return to the main assembly to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with their families.

Purpose of the Group

The Children’s Liturgy Group aims to:

• Help children understand and appreciate the Word of God in a meaningful way.
• Encourage active participation in Mass from an early age.
• Foster a sense of community and belonging among young parishioners.
• Support families in nurturing the faith of their children.

Who Can Participate?

• All children who have not yet made their First Holy Communion are welcome to join during Mass.
• Leaders and volunteers are parishioners who are trained to work with children and help them engage with scripture and prayer.

Why It Matters

Children’s Liturgy helps young parishioners develop a lifelong love for the Word of God and for the Church. By introducing children to scripture and prayer in a way that they can understand, it lays the foundation for a strong spiritual life. It encourages them to participate fully in the Mass. The Children’s Liturgy Group is more than a program; it’s a joyful way for children to encounter God’s Word, grow in faith, and be part of the parish family.

Parents who would like to enrol their children in the Children’s Liturgy should contact the Parish Office or the Group leader, Geraldine Gilmore, for a Consent Form.
