Finance Committee
The Parish Finance Committee plays an important role in our parish community, supporting the Parish Priest in the responsible management of the parish’s financial resources. The committee is an advisory body to the Parish Priest, assisting him in his tasks of administering parish finances, maintaining parish properties, planning for future capital works, and formulating strategies for raising funds. They are not involved in the day-to-day management of the Parish finances.
Who Serves on the Finance Committee?
Members of the Finance Committee are typically parishioners with expertise in finance, accounting, law, construction or business management. All members are committed to the parish’s mission and provide guidance with integrity, discretion, and a spirit of service.
How the Committee Works
- The committee meets regularly with the Parish Priest to review financial reports and discuss parish needs.
- It provides recommendations, but the final decisions regarding parish finances rest with the Parish Priest, in consultation with Diocesan guidelines.
- Committee members also help develop parish budgets, review annual financial statements, and assist with fundraising or special projects as needed.
Why it Matters
The Finance Committee helps ensure that parish resources are used effectively to serve the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our community. By carefully managing finances, the committee helps the parish remain strong and sustainable for future generations.
