Liturgy Committee

The Parish Liturgy Committee plays a vital role in ensuring that the celebration of the Mass and other sacraments is meaningful, reverent, and inspiring for the parish community. The committee collaborates with the priest, liturgical ministers, and parish staff to plan and coordinate liturgical celebrations in accordance with Church guidelines.

Purpose of the Committee

The Liturgy Committee assists the Parish Priest by:

  • Planning Liturgical Celebrations: Preparing Masses, sacramental celebrations, and special liturgical events throughout the year, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and parish feasts.
  • Promoting Full Participation: Encouraging parishioners to actively participate in the liturgy through music, readings, prayer, and ministry involvement (CCC 1140-1145).
  • Supporting Liturgical Ministries: Coordinating lectors, altar servers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, sacristans, and choir members.
  • Enhancing Worship: Ensuring that the environment, music, and rituals reflect the sacredness of the celebration and foster a prayerful atmosphere.

Committee members are parishioners who have a love for liturgy and a desire to serve the Church. They represent different liturgical groups within the parish: Sacristans, Readers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Children’s Liturgy, Choirs etc. Members may have experience or interest in music, art, ritual planning, or pastoral ministry.
