Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a consultative body made up of parishioners who, together with the Parish Priest, discern and plan the pastoral priorities of the parish and work to build a vibrant, faith-filled community.

What does the PPC do?

The PPC’s mission is to support the spiritual and pastoral growth of the parish. In other words, its primary concern is pastoral issues, not administration, buildings, management or finance, which are the responsibility of different groups.

Pastoral issues are those that impact the lives of parishioners in the areas of:

  • Integration of their faith into everyday life – home, work and community.
  • Nourishment and support of their faith as they try to live as faithful disciples of Jesus.
  • Outward focus for the development of a vital Christian community, actively engaged in Jesus’ mission of service and influence in the wider world.

The council does not manage the daily operations of the parish, but it plays a vital apart in shaping the parish’s spiritual direction and outreach.

Who Serves on the PPC?

Members of the PPC are parishioners who are actively engaged in the life of the Church, committed to prayer and service, and open to collaborative work. They are invited to serve for a term, receiving appropriate formation and meeting regularly throughout the year.

Why Does it Matter?

The Parish Pastoral Council is a sign of a truly engaged and listening Church. It ensures that decisions made for the parish are rooted in discernment, guided by faith, and informed by the lived experiences of parishioners. By working together, the PPC helps build a stronger, more connected parish community.
